Niexter: Hey, do I look fat?

BET all you teens out there would have asked this question at least once or twice right? Obesity has, to a certain extent, become something that is feared by people of all ages.

Why is this so? Well, for one, it affects health by increasing the risks of high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and kidney failure.

But aside from this, obesity lowers one’s confidence. How? Being obese may cause one to be clumsy. Those who are overweight also run the risk of hearing hurtful comments from peers and even some insensitive adults. They may be ostracised and looked down on just because of their size. The fault also lies with the media. Photos of celebrities and models plastered on the pages, equate slim with beautiful. No one talks of big as beautiful. So should you just sit there and let obesity affect your confidence as well as your life? Of course not. If you are comfortable with who you are and how you look, hold your head high and show the world how beautiful you are.

If you’re not happy in your own skin, then exercise regularly, eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water. You’ll lose that excess fat in no time, and before you know it, you’ll regain your confidence too.
