Act on it

I FELT a bit uneasy after reading the letter from Living Dead, published on Oct 31 (Depressed diabetic, Dear Thelma, Heart & Soul, StarMag). Life should not be so pessimistic. It can be much better.

I am also a diabetic, but after consulting our family doctor and starting to take medicine regularly, my condition has improved a lot. My diabetes is now under control. There are ways to reduce blood glucose. You can take medication daily, have insulin injections (if needed), exercise regularly, and control your diet.

I am in the process of typing out a list of suppliers that can supply good medicines for diabetes patients.

I'm also preparing guidelines on the steps people can take to control their blood sugar levels. I'm not an expert on diabetes or a specialist, and I don't intend to become one. My suggestions are based on my own experience.

We have to take firm action to improve our life and the very first step starts with the diabetes patient himself. Most importantly, patients should follow the instructions of their doctors strictly.
